Courteney Cox Arquette was born Courteney Bass Cox on June 15, 1964 to the late Richard L. Cox who was a businessman and Courteney Bass, a plain housewife. Cox has two older sisters, Dottie and Virginia and an older brother Richard, Jr. Her parents divorced in 1974. She grew up with her mother and her stepfather Hunter Copeland in Mountain Brook, Alabama. Cox attended Mountain Brook High School and went on to study architecture and interior design at Mount Vernon College for Women. After one year in college, she dropped out to pursue a modeling career after being signed by the Ford modeling agency in New York City.

It was certified 3x platinum after only a month out. The track "Hot in Herre" was #1 for 7 weeks on the Billboard Hot 100, followed by "Dilemma" featuring Kelly Rowland of Destiny's Child, which hit the top spot for 10 weeks. He won the "Favorite Rap/Hip-Hop Artist" award in the American Music Award in the same year.

Barrymore's godfather, Steven Spielberg gave her a quilt for her 20th birthday with a note "Cover yourself up". Enclosed was a copy of her Playboy appearance, with the pictures altered by his art department so that she appeared fully clothed.

Last January, 2006, Variety magazine announced that Matthew Perry had been cast in Aaron Sorkin's new dramatic television program "Studio 60 on the Sunset Strip" which will be airing on NBC for its 2006-2007 television season. Perry plays the role of Matt Albie who is a former writer for Studio 60 who is asked to return when executive producer Wes Mendell is fired. Perry previously worked with Sorkin in the TV drama "The West Wing" as Associate White House Counsel Joe Quincy. Perry also started filming "Numb", a comedy drama about a depressed writer which is scheduled for release in 2007.
